Eighteen shortlisted innovators are demonstrating medical technologies designed to improve the delivery of healthcare services to people in government hospitals across the State.

As part of efforts to introduce modern technologies and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services, the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, in partnership with the A.P. Innovation Society and the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub, launched the MedTech Innovation Challenge in November 2025. By the end of the year, the government had received 297 applications from innovators, manufacturers and researchers.

After several rounds of scrutiny, 18 innovators were shortlisted. They developed technological solutions across five categories including AI-powered diagnostic tools, portable point-of-care testing, smart monitoring and wearables, remote care and tele-medicine, and non-invasive technologies.

As part of the pilot testing phase, the shortlisted innovators are currently testing a total of 40 technologies in government hospitals located in Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, Guntur, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Parvathipuram, Tenali and other places.

According to a press note issued by the department, these technologies will help doctors confirm diseases in less time, enabling them to provide better treatment to patients while saving valuable time.

Some of the technologies can record conversations between patients and doctors, detect tuberculosis through cough analysis, identify heart diseases and anaemia, detect neurological disorders among children, and identify cataract and glaucoma. AI cameras are also being used for cervical cancer screening.

The ongoing pilot tests will conclude soon, after which Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav will submit a report on the observations to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

To review and recommend these applications, a special panel called the Committee for Applied Technologies in Health has been constituted. The committee, comprising AI specialists, health experts and scientists, will analyse the demonstrations and submit its report.
