The Malkajgiri SHE Teams apprehended 176 persons for harassing women and girls over a 45 day period as part of a special drive focusing on women’s safety. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women Safety, Malkajgiri, T. Usha Rani said the police would not spare anyone found harassing women and urged victims to come forward and lodge complaints without fear. Of the 176 apprehended, 134 were adults and 42 were minors. The accused were given professional counselling in the presence of family members. Police received 229 complaints between November 16, 2025 and December 31, 2025. Officials said complaints included harassment through phone calls, social media applications and direct physical harassment. Action taken included registration of criminal cases, booking of petty cases and counselling of offenders. In one case, a man was arrested for allegedly blackmailing a married woman with photographs after borrowing gold and cash from her. The accused, a former schoolmate, was apprehended by the SHE Team, and a case was registered before he was arrested. In another case, a man was arrested for persistently harassing a young woman studying at a homeopathy college despite repeated warnings. A separate case was registered against a man accused of cheating a young woman on the pretext of marriage after promising to marry her and later absconding. Meanwhile, during decoy operations in metro trains, 12 men who were travelling in women only compartments, were penalised.
