A total of 173 stainless steel vessels were seized by a flying squad team in Coimbatore city on Sunday (March 22, 2026) during election monitoring.

The seizure was made from a vehicle parked near the Tamil Nadu Housing Board residential area at Pullukadu in the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency. The items, valued at ₹1.45 lakh, were taken into custody by a flying squad led by Coimbatore Corporation Deputy Commissioner Kumaresan. Officials said the items were suspected to be intended as gift items for voters.

The total value of seizures in the district has reached ₹2.76 crore as of March 21 (Saturday). This includes ₹1.35 crore in cash, 528.145 litres of liquor worth ₹1.58 lakh, 129.18 kg of drugs valued at ₹64.7 lakh, and gold and silver ornaments weighing 302.74 grams worth ₹44.38 lakh. Other items numbering 2,203, including goods suspected to be used for inducement, with a total value of ₹30.43 lakh, have been seized.
