A 16-year old boy was killed in a road accident in the Nattalam area near Marthandam on Saturday. Police said the deceased has been identified as M. Ajish from Koorattuvilai village. He was riding a motorcycle with his friend Manikandan, 17. Due to speeding, Ajish reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which hit the median. He was thrown off the bike and sustained severe head injuries. Both boys were rescued and sent for treatment at a private hospital in Marthandam. Ajish was later sent to a private hospital in Thruvananthapuram. However, Ajish succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. His body was later sent to Government Medical College and Hospital in Asaripallam for post mortem. A case has been registered at Marthandam police station. Further investigations are on.
