Rajendran on Thursday (February 26, 2026) stated that in Salem district, 16.22 lakh metric tonnes of food grains were produced in the last five years. The Minister inaugurated the district-level millet festival on behalf of the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission—Nutri Cereals, held at a marriage hall at Vaithiyagoundanpudur, which was attended by over 1,000 farmers. He visited the stalls set up on behalf of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agri Business and Agricultural Engineering Departments. The Minister distributed welfare assistance worth ₹3.56 crore to 174 farmers, including a ₹1.82 crore subsidy to 40 farmers to set up Chief Minister’s Farmers’ Welfare Service Centres. He also distributed cash rewards to 25 farmers who won in the district-level crop produce.
