Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director C.h. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Thursday said 1,500 electric buses would be inducted into the public transport organisation’s fleet soon, and charging infrastructure would be established for smooth operation of the e-buses.

Speaking at the New Year celebrations at RTC House in Vijayawada, Mr. Rao said the focus was on improving passenger convenience and modernisation of bus stations and depots. He expressed confidence that the APSRTC would achieve further growth in the new year through teamwork and commitment.

Mr. Rao appreciated the dedicated efforts of employees in the successful implementation of the Stree Shakti scheme, and said the staff’s commitment had strengthened the government’s confidence in APSRTC.

Urging the employees to continue working with the same dedication, he said collective efforts of the staff had resulted in improved performance of the organisation, and highlighted employee welfare measures, including long-pending promotions, clearance of dues, and alternative employment opportunities for unfit staff through G.O.s.
