The Karimnagar Principal District and Sessions Court on Tuesday sentenced 15 persons to life imprisonment apart from imposing a fine of ₹1,500 on each of them in a murder case on Tuesday.

According to the prosecution, B. Tirupathi, president of Fishermen Cooperative Society in Chamanpalli of Karimnagar rural mandal, was murdered by M. Dharmarajam and 14 others on April 19, 2019, due to previous enmity over a membership row in the society.

Based on a complaint filed by Tirupathi’s wife, the Karimnagar Rural Police registered a murder case against the 15 accused and launched an investigation.

Following the completion of the trial, the court found all 15 accused guilty of murder and delivered the verdict.

Drunk driving case

In a separate case, First Additional District and Sessions Judge in Jagtial, S. Narayana, on Tuesday sentenced a 53-year-old man identified as Vanam Anjaiah to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 for causing the death of a 40-year-old man due to rash and drunken driving in Dharmapuri mandal several years ago.

Jagtial Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar warned that driving under the influence of alcohol is not just a violation of traffic rules but a dangerous act that can lead to fatal consequences.

The SP appreciated the efforts of the Investigating Officer, Additional Public Prosecutor and all the concerned staff for their coordinated efforts in securing conviction in the case.
