Venkatesh said that the Indian National Congress government in Karnataka has effectively responded to public concerns and earned people’s trust as it marks 1,000 days in office. In a statement, Mr. Venkatesh said the government has addressed the challenges faced by the common people through welfare-oriented governance. He claimed that voters had chosen the Congress after being disillusioned with the previous BJP government, and that the present government has laid emphasis on inclusive development and social welfare. Highlighting major welfare initiatives, the spokesperson said that the government’s guarantee schemes have provided relief to economically weaker sections. He cited programmes such as the Shakti scheme, which offers free bus travel for women, along with Gruha Lakshmi, Yuva Nidhi, Gruha Jyothi, and Anna Bhagya schemes aimed at supporting households across the State. Mr. Venkatesh also argued that critics who had earlier opposed guarantee schemes are now adopting similar measures in other states, and added that the government plans to introduce more people-centric programmes. He also asserted that the law-and-order situation in Karnataka remains stable.
