Tourism Minister R. Rajendran said that in Salem district 1.03 lakh beneficiaries received land pattas worth ₹257 crore in the past five years.

At a function held at Nehru Auditorium on Saturday, Tourism Minister R. Rajendran distributed land pattas on behalf of the Revenue and Adi Dravidar Welfare Departments and welfare assistance worth ₹59.93 crore to 2,397 beneficiaries on behalf of various departments. In the function, 1,570 beneficiaries received land pattas worth ₹34.82 crore; educational loans of ₹6.30 crore were given to 72 beneficiaries and 210 beneficiaries received new smart ration cards.

The Minister said that at the functions held in the district, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin distributed 80,000 pattas to beneficiaries. In the past five years, 1.03 lakh beneficiaries received pattas worth ₹257 crore in Salem district. Considering the welfare of women, ₹5,000 each was credited to 1.31 crore women’s accounts recently.

In Salem district, welfare assistance worth ₹22,500 crore was distributed to 1.25 crore beneficiaries in the past five years. On behalf of the Cooperative Department, jewel loans worth ₹483 crore were waived to 1.46 lakh beneficiaries. Compared with other states in the country, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, through his able administration, made Tamil Nadu a front runner, Mr. Rajendran added.

Later, the Minister inaugurated the additional building constructed at the juvenile home on the Salem Court premises.

In these functions, District Collector R. Brindha Devi, MPs S.R. Sivalingam, T.M. Selvaganapathi, D. Malaiyarasan, Salem Mayor A. Ramachandran, Salem West MLA R. Arul, District Revenue Officer R. Ravikumar, Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan, Deputy Mayor M. Saradha Devi and officials from government departments participated.
