The family members of bereaved police constable G.N. Harish received a cheque for ₹70 lakh on January 14.

Bank of Baroda gave away the cheque under the Bank’s Group Insurance Scheme for Police Personnel. The bank’s Mangaluru regional head C.V.S. Chandrasekhar presented the cheque to the family members in the presence of Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

On February 5, 2025, 30-year-old Harish, a police constable attached to Kankanady Town Police station, was returning on his motorcycle to work after taking part in his engagement ceremony on February 2. Near Arathodu, Sullia, his vehicle met with an accident. Passers-by admitted him to Sullia hospital, and from there he was brought to A.J. Hospital in Mangaluru, where he was declared brain dead on February 8. His liver and a kidney were transplanted to patients at A.J. Hospital, while his other kidney was transplanted to a patient at KMC Hospital.
